Is GERD Hereditary???
Although there is no proof many believe that GERD runs in the family. So instead of finding meds to keep the reflux under control why aren't they making meds to deliver a cure? Well, that is happening. The PAGER Association has quite a study underway that hopefully will lead to a cure. The founder of PAGER wrote the following to us. "PAGER Association is working with Allegheny General Hospital, Center for Genomic Sciences in Pittsburgh on the first every study to find the gene for reflux. We are not hoping for gene therapy - we are hoping to understand the underlying cause of reflux better. This should allow researchers to invent a medication that attacks the cause, rather than masking the symptoms.
